Got myself together, now I'm ready to sing"

My Opinions and Recommendations

She is the singer that Ally McBeal made famous. Every once in a while I want to go to a bar where a beautiful woman will sit at a piano and sing old songs. That is what the double CD set reminds me of. I don't watch the show that much, but sometimes my mood just calls for this woman. Off the first CD I like Searchin' My Soul, the theme from the show. I also like The Wildest Times of the World and Will You Marry Me?

Off the Heart and Soul album I really like Read Your Mind. And Baby Don't You Break My Heart Slow is a duet with Emily Saliers from the Indigo Girls and it is really fabulous too. Finally, I really like To Sir, With Love. This CD has a great mix of fast and slow with lots of songs that you can sing along to.

When Christmas time rolls around, A Very Ally Christmas has the perfect songs for everyone to agree on, and Vonda sings a lot of them. It also has some numbers by the cast of the show which are suprisingly good. The reason I bought the CD was for Robert Downey Jr.'s version of Joni Mitchell's River. I really like the last track by Vonda Shepard called What Are You Doing New Year's Eve. Calista also sings a cute version of Santa Baby.

One singer that has the same sound is Faith Hill. She used to be a lot more country, but since she has made the crossover to pop, Faith has got that old time sound. Sarah Harmer has a little bit more of an independent sound, but she is also similar. Lastly, listen to Leeann Womack, another country queen. I think that Leeann and Vonda are around the same age, and thus have songs and themes that are very alike.
