My Opinions and Recommendations

Nelly Furtado is a great voice that has been added to the mainstream. Her sound is definitely different, and I think she will be around for a while to come. Her debut album, Whoa! Nelly has many different songs on it and mixes rap and latin, hip-hop and pop. My favorite songs on the CD are Baby Girl and I'm Like a Bird, but trust me when I say this is one CD that you should listen through all the way. I hope that Nelly Furtado is here to stay.

Her second album is just as good, if not better, than her first. She has had a baby and several of the songs are clearly sung to him. I really like the first single off the album, Powerless (Say What You Want). It has a great feel good message, like many of the other songs on the album. My other favorite is Forca. Check out this album for a fresh twist on the pop world.

She is new on the front, but she was clearly influenced by a lot of old timers like Janet Jackson. Her voice's versitality is similar to Shelby Lynne's, and she touches upon a wider range of music. Finally, one of Nelly's contemporaries is Amanda Ghost. They both have voices that grab your attention, and the beats in the songs help keep you interested.
