My Opinions and Recommendations

I love Ms. Jackson. I have loved her since I was ten. I have loved every album since then. She is beautiful and talented, and she can dance better than anyone I have ever seen. As you can see, I own most of her albums. I also saw her Velvet Rope Tour and All For You Tour, and they were phenomenal. She started out in the 80s with Control (one of the few CDs I don't own, mainly because most of the good songs are on her greatest hits album). Then came Rhythm Nation, and a video that is impossible to forget. My favorite songs off that CD are Black Cat, which Janet produced herself, and Rhythm Nation, but the entire album needs to be listened to in full. Next came her self-titled CD, Janet, with the cover that no one could forget. The best songs are If and What'll I Do, but again, you need the full CD experience. Following this was Design of a Decade, with all of her major hits and a couple of new ones. This CD is in constant rotation in my stereo, and all of the songs are great that I can't even pick a favorite. She shocked everyone with her blatant sexuality in Velvet Rope. I really like the social awareness and edginess of What About That, and I also love the upbeat style of Together Again. Finally, the All For You CD emerged. I love the duet with Carly Simon, Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song is About You), and Come on Get Up. I cannot say enough good things about this talented woman who is never afraid to be different and daring.

Obviously, following the above review, it is going to be very hard to find similar artists that belong in the same category as Janet. Madonna has the staying power, but I feel that their talents are in extremely different areas. Check out Whitney Houston's Greatest Hits. I don't think Whitney has as good a talent for different things, but her Greatest Hits CD does have many great tracks. Also, Erykah Badu is very talented, but her music lacks the pop feel that Janet's has. Finally, Nelly Furtado has a great sound, that varies as much as Janet's (if that is possible with only one CD). Janet's longevity and all-around talent make it hard to compare her to anyone else.
