"It's true you can't fight it
Live by it
the next generation" - From Electric Youth
My Opinions and Recommendations
I admit it, I am a child of the 80s and I wanted to be Debbie Gibson at one point in my life. I owned posters and her hour long video. I haven't listened to her recent stuff at all because I just am not sure it would ever compare to the bubble-gum pop that I am used to from her. When I feel like reverting back to my childhood, I put on Out of the Blue. My favorite songs on it are Shake Your Love and Foolish Beat. I also like her second album Electric Youth. My favorite songs on it are Who Loves Ya Baby? and the slower ballad, Lost in Your Eyes.
As for similar sounds, you must know about her rival in the 80s, Tiffany. The two were the Britney and Christina of the 80s. And on that same track, if you are looking for modern bubblegum pop, like Debbie's, you should check out Britney Spears' first album, Baby One More Time, especially the song Soda Pop. You may also want to listen to Madonna's True Blue or Janet Jackson's Control.
